Ma il tempo qui ad Aqua scorre in modo diverso, mi hanno detto, per cui non so esattamente che età avrei, se riuscissi a tornare indietro. Per tutto questo tempo non ho fatto altro che cercare la via di casa, senza riuscirci. E a pensarci bene è davvero assurdo perché qui, in questo strano mondo, sono una Cercatrice d’Acqua. Cercare dovrebbe essere quello che mi viene meglio, ma ho fallito. Sono bloccata in una grotta e sto morendo. Di sete. Non so per quanto tempo potrò resistere».
Che cosa accadrebbe se all’improvviso ci risvegliassimo in un luogo sconosciuto, lontani da casa e dalle persone che amiamo, con la testa confusa e colma di domande senza risposta? È ciò che succede a Chiara, 15 anni, la cui esistenza viene stravolta da una serie di misteriose coincidenze che costringono lei e la sua famiglia a trasferirsi in un minuscolo paesino. Lì scopre inquietanti e misteriosi dettagli sul passato della sua bisnonna e viene catapultata nel mondo di Aqua, dove apprende di essere l’erede diretta dell’ultima Cercatrice.
A Chiara spetta il difficile compito di trovare la Fonte che Toglie la Sete e salvare gli abitanti di Aqua assediati dai Predoni. Il suo unico pensiero è tornare a casa, ma dovrà invece affrontare un viaggio pericoloso, fra trappole, insidie e creature mostruose.
C’è un elemento che unisce il mondo reale e il mondo fantastico e che ricorre costantemente: l’acqua. Fragile e preziosa risorsa della natura, minacciata dall’inquinamento e dalla siccità, l’acqua è l’oggetto della ricerca di Chiara, in un viaggio che diventa avventura e al contempo metafora della ricerca di sé. Un viaggio che accomuna tutti noi, perennemente in cammino.
