L’albo ci fa incontrare una fata madrina pasticciona, un piccione ingombrante, un pentolone magico dal quale escono solo guai, tre briganti trasformati in funghetti, un pestilenziale formaggiaio, una mucca al galoppo, un principe sciroccato, e anche gatti come se piovesse (infatti piovono per davvero). E in mezzo a tutto questo guazzabuglio di situazioni surreali, tra le righe, quasi sussurrati, affiorano anche pensieri più intimi e riflessioni più profonde, affrontate con leggerezza e senza intenti moralistici.
Le illustrazioni raccontano il mondo interiore di Cenerentola con tavole umoristiche che ne sottolineano lo stato d’animo e la personalità, tra stupore e divertimento, perplessità e determinazione. Triolo riesce ad accompagnare il testo arricchendolo di sfumature e particolari che sono piccole storie nelle storie. Una narrazione visiva spassosa, che si affianca con mordente alla parte testuale, in un connubio di personaggi e situazioni buffe.
